Japan PM seeks partners after ruling bloc loses lower house majority TOKYO - Japan's ruling camp lost its majority in the House of Representatives in Sunday's election, dealing a heavy blow to Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba who must now look for additional support outside the coalition to run a stable government. Olympus CEO Kaufmann resigns amid illegal drug purchase allegation Olympus Corp. said Monday that CEO Stefan Kaufmann has stepped down from his post following an allegation that he purchased illegal drugs. Japan average pay hike tops 10,000 yen for 1st time amid inflation The average monthly pay increase at Japanese businesses this year rose 2,524 yen ($16) from 2023 to a record 11,961 yen, a government survey showed Monday, exceeding the 10,000 yen mark for the first time amid rising prices.
