Millions dig out from historic winter storm that slammed the Northeast While a new round of snow is hitting parts of the Northeast, millions are still digging out from the historic blizzard that hit earlier in the week. More than 3 feet of snow fell in parts of Massachusetts. Meanwhile, airports across the Northeast are working around the clock to clear snow after more than 2,000 flights were canceled Tuesday.
