Kakao Mobility fined $55m for alleged market abuses - Nikkei Asia SEOUL -- South Korean authorities fined Kakao Mobility 72.4 billion won ($54.9 million) on Wednesday for alleged violations in its taxi-hailing service.The Korea Fair Trade Commission announced that the transportation unit of Kakao forced competing companies, such as Uber Taxi and Tada, to sign information-sharing agreements disclosing drivers' license plate numbers and routes, which Kakao could use to boost its dominance in the taxi market. Kakao stopped connecting companies that declined to provide this information to taxi requests from riders, the authorities said.

EU-China talks over EV tariffs to continue beyond Friday's vote - Nikkei Asia BRUSSELS/PARIS/HAMBURG, Germany -- European countries are expected to continue negotiations with Beijing even if they vote to impose duties on China-made electric vehicles on Friday, sources told Nikkei Asia.The European Union and China have until the end of October to negotiate a definitive framework that will be put in place for five years from November. The 27 countries will vote on the European Commission's recommendations received last Friday, which showed a slight reduction in tariff rates and also the inclusion of a clause to continue talks.
