Japan's Sumitomo plans $700m renewable energy buildup in India - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- Japanese trading house Sumitomo Corp. plans to invest 100 billion yen ($702 million) in India with a local company to develop solar and onshore wind power plants for supplying electricity to businesses, Nikkei has learned.Sumitomo will establish a joint venture with startup Ampin Energy Transition, taking a 49% stake while Ampin holds 51%. The venture will build power plants across India, each with hundreds of megawatts of capacity.

Moderna to launch skin cancer vaccine as soon as 2025: CEO - Nikkei Asia NEW YORK -- U.S. pharmaceutical company Moderna could have a vaccine to treat melanoma, a form of skin cancer, on the market as soon as next year, CEO Stephane Bancel told Nikkei on Wednesday.The company is co-developing a messenger RNA vaccine that targets cancer cells with U.S.-based Merck. The launch is targeted for 2027 under the company's basic plan but this can be moved forward, according to Bancel.

MUFG to pause talks on investing in Indian nonbank - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- Japan's Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group will halt talks on acquiring shares in a nonbank financial company under India's HDFC Bank after an apparent failure to agree on the terms of a deal, Nikkei has learned.Japan's largest financial group had proposed investing 200 billion to 300 billion yen ($1.4 billion to $2.1 billion) to acquire around a 20% stake in HDB Financial Services.
