Top FDA vaccine official resigns, citing �lies and misinformation� The FDA�s top vaccine official, Dr. Peter Marks, abruptly resigned weeks after anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy took over as the head of Health and Humans Services. A person familiar with the matter tells NBC News that Marks was forced out of his position. Myanmar quake death toll tops 1,000 as many countries offer aid Over 1,000 people have been confirmed killed with more than 2,300 others injured a day after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck central Myanmar, state media said Saturday. The devastating temblor has led the United States, Russia, China and other countries and international bodies to express their readiness to provide relief assistance to Myanmar. Japan beef bowl chain Sukiya to shut all stores amid hygiene concerns Japanese beef-bowl restaurant operator Sukiya Co. said Saturday it will temporarily close almost all of its outlets nationwide to take sanitary measures after a rat and a cockroach were found in served food. In a rare move for a major restaurant chain operator, Sukiya's nearly 2,000 outlets will be shut from 9 a.m. Monday to 9 a.m. Friday while steps will be taken to block the entry of pests and vermin.
