U.S. 100% duty on Chinese EVs comes into effect The U.S. government on Friday quadrupled the tariff rate on Chinese electric vehicles to 100 percent and sharply raised tariffs on Chinese goods in other areas of strategic importance, such as steel and solar products. With China only hinting so far about the possibility of countermeasures, the steep U.S. tariff hikes have come into effect. Resolution 2758. The resolution, passed in 1971, acknowledges the People's Republic of China as "the only legitimate representative of China to the United Nations." Alibaba and JD.com to lower barriers on payments and logistics - Nikkei Asia HONG KONG -- Chinese online retail rivals Alibaba Group and JD.com have reached a deal to further open their closed ecosystems to each other, amid slowing user growth and Beijing's antitrust scrutiny, sources familiar with the matter told Nikkei Asia.Under the arrangement, which the companies would start to implement in late October, Alibaba's Taobao and Tmall would integrate JD's logistics service while JD would add Alibaba's fintech arm Alipay as an additional payment option, one of the sources said. The person described the move as beneficial to both parties and "in line with Beijing's antitrust directive."
