Does anyone really care about a documentary charting Camillas rise from jolly schoolgirl to Dianas nemesis, then queen? Channel 4 does, judging by this tedious, flimsy showI feel like Ive missed a memo. Is it Camilla Awareness Month or something? Two weeks ago, we had 90 minutes on her charitable activities in ITVs Her Majesty the Queen: Behind Closed Doors which, to be honest, amply satisfied my interest in the lady, fond as I am of a doughty dame. Now weve got Queen Camilla: The Wicked Stepmother, a documentary about absolutely nothing we havent heard before. It looks like the Christmas ruining of the TV schedules has already begun. Seems to come round earlier every year, does it not?Anyway. To business. Posh folk alongside less posh biographers and journalists assemble to talk about Camillas remarkable rise to queendom. We begin with her childhood. U.S. to deploy missile units to Japan islands in Taiwan contingency The U.S. military will set up temporary bases along Japan's southwestern Nansei island chain and the Philippines to deploy missile units in the event of a Taiwan contingency, sources familiar with Japan-U.S. relations said Sunday. The deployment of the missile units will be incorporated in the first joint operation plan for the United States and Japan to cope with a contingency involving Taiwan and China, which regards the self-ruled island as its own, to be formulated in December.
