Japan PM wants to see "specific progress" in next U.S. tariff talks Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Friday he wants to see "specific progress" in bilateral tariff negotiations with the United States, as the next round of ministerial talks is expected by the end of April. Ishiba said he understood that the just-ended first round of negotiations had been "frank and constructive," following a direct briefing from Japan's chief negotiator Ryosei Akazawa, who had just returned from Washington. M5.1 quake jolts central Japan, no tsunami warning issued An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.1 struck Nagano Prefecture in central Japan on Friday, with no tsunami warning issued, according to the weather agency. No severe injuries or damage to buildings were reported following the 8:19 p.m. quake that jolted the northern part of the prefecture, the local government said.
