Japan police arrest 111 in online child exploitation crackdown Japan's National Police Agency said Friday that a nationwide crackdown targeting online child sexual exploitation was conducted in February and March, leading to the arrest of 111 people aged 14 to 68. The operation focused on offenses related to online child pornography and sexual abuse, marking Japan's first participation in a coordinated international investigation with five countries such as Singapore and South Korea as well as Hong Kong. Japan PM exploring possibility of phone talks with Trump over tariffs Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said Friday he is exploring the possibility of a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, calling his imposition of reciprocal tariffs a "national crisis" that requires an "unprecedented" response. Nikkei stock index tumbles for 2nd day on U.S. tariff concerns The Nikkei stock index tumbled for a second straight day to a new eight-month low Friday amid heightening global fears of an economic slowdown triggered by U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff measures.
