Japan astronaut Yui to join ISS mission in July or later: NASA Japanese astronaut Kimiya Yui will join a long-term mission at the International Space Station possibly in July on a journey arranged by NASA, the U.S. space agency said Thursday. In his second trip to the ISS since 2015, 55-year-old Yui will accompany three other astronauts from the United States and Russia on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's SpaceX Crew-11 mission. Figure skating: Shoma Uno pursues perfection in self-produced ice show Former world champion and two-time Olympic medalist Shoma Uno is aiming for new heights in figure skating as the producer of his first ice show. The 27-year-old retired from competition last May and is busy carving out the "Ice Brave" exhibition to be staged in Aichi, Fukuoka and Niigata prefectures in June and July, when he will share the rink with his former coach Stephane Lambiel and the 2016 women's world junior champion Marin Honda. Toyota global output up 5.8% in Feb. in wake of safety scandal Toyota Motor Corp. said on Friday its global production rose 5.8 percent in February from a year earlier to 779,790 vehicles as it recovers from a safety testing scandal that hurt group output last year. Domestic production rose 16.2 percent to 286,372 units as sales recovered from the scandal related to improper certification and safety testing at group firms Daihatsu Motor Co. and Toyota Industries Corp. that dented its top line a year earlier. Western Japan wildfires contained after 5 days Wildfires in Okayama Prefecture in western Japan have been contained five days after their outbreak, with evacuation orders lifted, the local government said Friday. A fire in Ehime Prefecture, also in western Japan, meanwhile has likely weakened thanks to rainfall after burning over 440 hectares, engulfing a total of 21 buildings including houses and warehouses since it was confirmed Sunday.
