Siam Motors shifts gears to real estate with Thai office tower - Nikkei Asia BANGKOK -- Thai conglomerate Siam Motors Group has launched a 3.5 billion baht ($106 million) office building in Bangkok, seeking to reduce reliance on its automobile business and bolster real estate operations.Siam Patumwan House is located near the capital's central Sukhumvit Road and is a five-minute walk from National Stadium station on the BTS Skytrain transit system. The 33-story tower offers 51,000 sq. meters of leasable area and has earned the LEED gold rating for sustainability-focused design. It is set to fully open its doors next year. Media was granted access to the building on Thursday.

Japan, South Korea LNG buyers seek transparency on methane emissions - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- Japanese and South Korean companies will team up to curb methane emissions from gas fields, encouraging suppliers of liquefied natural gas to provide information about their footprint of a major contributor to global warming, Nikkei has learned.More than 20 Japanese comes will join the CLEAN initiative led by Japan's JERA and Korea Gas. They include such major LNG buyers as Tokyo Gas, Mitsubishi Corp. and Mitsui & Co., along with smaller regional players like Hiroshima Gas.

U.S. WWII bomb explosion in Japan prompts airport inspections - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- Japan will inspect airports built on former military airfields for old explosive devices, the transportation ministry said Thursday, a day after a suspected World War II-era bomb exploded under the taxiway at Miyazaki Airport.The initiative will focus on sites that were targeted during WWII air raids and where unexploded ordinances were previously found. Naha Airport in Okinawa, where unexploded bombs were discovered in 2020, is expected to be on the list, which will include only airports managed by the central government.

The spending includes two factories in Gifu prefecture that are due to be up and running in the next few years.Ibiden is the world's top supplier of cutting-edge chip packaging substrates but faces the looming arrival of competitors. Toyota and Subaru to jointly develop EV for 2026 launch - Nikkei Asia NAGOYA/TOKYO -- Toyota Motor and Subaru will launch a jointly developed electric vehicle in Japan, the U.S, and Europe in 2026, Nikkei has learned.Production will begin around January 2026 at Subaru's Yajima plant, in Japan's Gunma prefecture, with production capacity rising to between 15,000 and 20,000 vehicles per month.
