Record 124 members of news media killed in 2024: report At least 124 members of the news media were killed worldwide in 2024, making it the deadliest year on record, with nearly 70 percent Palestinian, a New York-based nonprofit organization said Wednesday. The prior record of killed journalists in one year was set in 2007 at 113, according to a tally by the Committee to Protect Journalists compiled since comparable data became available in 1992.
