Baseball: Japan braces as Ichiro up for Hall of Fame induction After prized pitcher Roki Sasaki said last week he will join the Los Angeles Dodgers, the attention of Japanese baseball fans has shifted to the U.S. Hall of Fame announcement, to be made Tuesday -- Wednesday morning in Tokyo. Former Seattle Mariners icon Ichiro Suzuki is a favorite to be inducted on the first ballot and the first Asian ever to join the Hall of Fame. M6.4 earthquake strikes southern Taiwan, 27 injured A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck southern Taiwan shortly after midnight Monday, damaging buildings and injuring at least 27 people, according to the island's authorities. The focus of the temblor, which jolted the island at 12:17 a.m., was located in Dapu Township in Chiayi County at a depth of 9.7 kilometers, the fire agency said.
