Football: Japan hopefuls breaking new ground in English 2nd tier Yuki Ohashi's four goals in eight games for Blackburn Rovers have been the highlight of eight Japanese players so far this term in the English second-tier Championship, which has quickly become a new battlefield for Samurai Blue hopefuls. The influx resulted from the Football Association relaxing its regulations on signing overseas talent in June last year, allowing Premier League and Championship teams to add up to four players who did not meet the existing criteria, including points requirements earned through playing for national teams. Japan's government emerges as incubator for space industry - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- The Japanese government is becoming increasingly like a venture investor in space startups, soliciting ideas, making them compete for money and investing in those with the most business potential.On Sept. 19, the government awarded a total of 10 billion yen ($69 million) in subsidies to three launch startups in the second leg of a three-stage competition. The first leg was held in September 2023, and four launch startups were selected. The last selection is scheduled for April 2026, in which two finalists will be chosen for full subsidies.

TSMC, Amkor to bring advanced chip packaging to U.S. for first time - Nikkei Asia TAIPEI -- Top global chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. and Arizona-headquartered Amkor have agreed to work together on advanced chip packaging on U.S. soil, marking a victory in American efforts to bring critical chip supply chain technology onshore.TSMC and Amkor, the world's No. 2 chip packaging and testing service provider, announced their memorandum of understanding on Friday. This will be the first time to establish such production -- all of which is currently concentrated in Taiwan -- in the U.S. The deal will expand the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem and accelerate product cycle times, the joint statement said.
