Zambia Targets IMF Extension by Year-End, Finance Minister Says Zambia is seeking a 12-month extension of its expiring International Monetary Fund program and hopes to get a deal by year-end that includes additional financing. The existing $1.7-billion arrangement was due to expire in October, but the IMF agreed to prolong it for three-months to allow for the completion of a final review. “We definitely want to extend the program for another one year,” Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said in an interview with Bloomberg on Sept. 27.
