AirAsia and Garuda units to launch aircraft maintenance venture - Nikkei Asia KUALA LUMPUR -- Capital A, the parent company of Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia, and PT Garuda Indonesia have agreed to cooperate in maintaining, repairing and overhauling jetliners.Capital A subsidiary Asia Digital Engineering and PT Garuda subsidiary PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia will launch a joint venture with a combined investment of $12 million. Plans are for the venture to begin operating early next year and for it to provide landing gear solutions to Southeast Asia's booming aviation maintenance market.

Tokyo Metro to be listed in late October - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- The Tokyo Stock Exchange announced on Friday that it has approved the listing of Tokyo Metro on the prime market, with an estimated value of 640 billion yen ($4.5 billion). The planned listing date is Oct. 23.The estimated per-share offer price is 1,100 yen. The central government owns 53.4% of the subway operator's shares, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government holds the remaining 46.6%.

BOJ keeps rates on hold, Ueda tempers another hike speculation The Bank of Japan left interest rates unchanged Friday as its chief said the central bank still has time to assess when it needs to raise borrowing costs further, a comment that weakened the yen by tempering market speculation about another possible rate hike within the year. The BOJ stood pat after it raised the target for the overnight call rate to around 0.25 percent in July from a range of zero to 0.1 percent in an effort to dial back its decade-long unorthodox monetary easing amid signs of an economic recovery. Japan to issue 2025 Osaka Expo gold coin for 268,000 yen Japan's Finance Ministry said it will issue commemorative 10,000 yen ($70) gold coins for the upcoming 2025 World Expo in Osaka, with a price tag of 268,000 yen each amid the soaring cost of the precious metal. China to resume Japan seafood imports, join water release monitoring China has agreed to resume seafood imports from Japan, contingent on third-party nations, including itself, participating in monitoring the discharge of treated radioactive water from the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said Friday.
