China and Russia to hold joint drills in Sea of Japan and Okhotsk - Nikkei Asia BEIJING -- The Chinese and Russian militaries will conduct joint sea and air drills around the Sea of Japan and Sea of Okhotsk this month, China's Ministry of National Defense announced on Monday.The aim is to "deepen strategic cooperation between the Chinese and Russian militaries and strengthen their ability to jointly deal with security threats," the ministry said in a statement.

Japan to nominate ex-top finance diplomat Kanda as next ADB chief The government plans to nominate Japan's former top finance diplomat, Masato Kanda, as the next president of the Asian Development Bank, sources familiar with the matter said Monday.
