| 05.12.2024 4:50London gears up to host 1st sumo event in 34 years next October The Japan Sumo Association and people in London hosting a sumo tournament next year shared excitement on Wednesday to realize the first such event in the British capital in 34 years.
Royal Albert Hall CEO James Ainscough expressed delight to welcome sumo back to the Victorian-era venue and said he hopes the Oct. 15-19 tournament will be more than just a sporting event, during a press conference with JSA President Hakkaku.

Late last month, Beijing restarted its unilateral visa-free arrangement for short-term Japanese visitors, allowing stays of up to 30 days, apparently to promote tourism and trade amid a downturn in the world's second-largest economy. The preferential treatment had been suspended since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Philippine coast guard ship was escorting a fisheries bureau vessel in the Scarborough Shoal, located within the country's exclusive economic zone. The fisheries bureau vessel was blasted with water cannons and sideswiped by a Chinese coast guard ship, resulting in structural damage, Commodore Jay Tarriela said.

Traditional sake-brewing is an ancient technique for fermenting rice and other ingredients using "koji" mold. It is a unique production method in which multiple fermentation progresses simultaneously in one vessel.
