Former Nintendo factory in Kyoto opens as nostalgia-fuelled gaming museum Museum features consoles from 1983s Famicom to 2017s Switch, as well as honouring Nintendos pre-video-game eraTraditionally, visitors to Kyoto in October come for momijigari, the turning of the autumn leaves in the citys picturesque parks. This autumn, however, there is a new draw: a Nintendo museum.The new attraction, which opens on Wednesday, is best described as a chapel of video game nostalgia. Upstairs, Nintendos many video game consoles, from 1983s Famicom through 1996s Nintendo 64 to 2017s Switch, are displayed reverently alongside their most famous games. On the back wall, visitors can also peer at toys, playing cards and other artefacts from the Japanese companys pre-video-game history, stretching back to its founding as a hanafuda playing card manufacturer in 1889. Runway closed at Japan airport after dud shell explodes on taxiway A dud shell exploded on a taxiway at Miyazaki Airport in southwestern Japan on Wednesday morning, forcing the closure of its runway, although no injuries were reported, authorities said. Video footage from the Civil Aviation College, which uses the airport as a pilot training base, showed a black cloud of dust and debris shooting up from the ground just two minutes after an aircraft passed nearby. New Japan PM seeks stronger security ties by phone with Biden, others Japan's new Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba told U.S. President Joe Biden and other leaders during phone talks Wednesday that he aims to strengthen security cooperation with their countries. Speaking to reporters after his conversation with Biden, Ishiba said he hopes to discuss the long-standing bilateral agreement on the status of U.S. troops in Japan in the future when the opportunity arises.
