Mitsubishi taps into bioplastics supply chain with SAF providers - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- Japanese trading house Mitsubishi Corp. is expanding ties with suppliers of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) providers, while looking to solidify partnerships with brands that want to improve their eco-friendly credentials.Mitsubishi has partnered with Japanese beverage company Suntory and apparel manufacturer Goldwin to use sustainable plastics for their end-products, and is also in talks with other brands in Japan, the U.S. and Europe, a company representative told Nikkei Asia.

Cambodia pulls out of development pact with Laos and Vietnam after protests - Nikkei Asia PHNOM PENH (AP) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said he was pulling his country out of a development agreement with neighboring Vietnam and Laos following protests that it was benefiting foreign interests.Critics on social media have focused on land concessions in border areas particularly with Vietnam, a highly sensitive issue because of Cambodia's historical antagonism toward its larger eastern neighbor.

Esperanza Morine Cabrillos, 86, and Lydia Morine Galalan, 84, were granted permission by the Naha Family Court in Japan's Okinawa Prefecture this month to establish a new family register in the country. Suzuki Motor to expand dealership network in India to 6,800 outlets - Nikkei Asia TOKYO/MUMBAI -- Suzuki Motor plans to develop markets in regional cities in India in a bid to create a network of 6,800 dealerships across the country by fiscal 2030, starting in April that year, an increase of around 70% from the present, highlighting the importance of the Indian market for global automakers.Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki's subsidiary, is the biggest automaker in India, with a local market share for passenger cars of around 40%. Over the past several years, it has been increasing its dealerships at an annual pace of some 200 through sales agency contracts with local companies. As of the end of June, it had a network of some 3,900 outlets.

Photographer Eikoh Hosoe, who snapped Yukio Mishima, dies at 91 Eikoh Hosoe, known for his aesthetic photographs of Japanese author Yukio Mishima, died last week in a Tokyo hospital due to an adrenal gland tumor, his family said Wednesday. He was 91. Hosoe, whose works have been exhibited worldwide, including in the Museum of Modern Art, was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Photographic Society of Japan in 1963 for his photo collection "Barakei"(Ordeal by Roses) featuring Mishima. China launches ICBM into Pacific, 1st known test in 44 yrs China said Wednesday its army test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile into a designated area on the high seas in the Pacific earlier in the day, with Hong Kong media reporting it was the first known ICBM test by Beijing in 44 years. On Tuesday, the Chinese Defense Ministry notified the United States, Australia and New Zealand of the missile test in advance, according to sources familiar with the matter. Taiwan lifts Fukushima-related restrictions on Japanese food imports Taiwan said Wednesday it has lifted the remaining food import restrictions in place since the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster, allowing the entry of all foods approved for distribution in Japan. In February 2022, Taiwan removed its ban on most food products from Fukushima, Ibaraki, Gunma, Tochigi and Chiba prefectures, but curbs remained on certain items like mushrooms and wild game meat.
