KBW CEO on re-building Manhattan after 9/11 Tom Michaud describes how KBW responded in the aftermath of Sept. 11 by focusing first on helping the families of victims and then on rebuilding the firm. Former NY Fed President on Remembering 9/11 William Dudley discussed Dudley’s experience on a diverted flight during the FAA ground stop after the attacks. Dudley said the plane was unable to land in the U.S. and was sent to Saint John’s, Newfoundland, where passengers were kept for six days. He compared the experience to the musical Come From Away, saying it accurately captured what stranded travelers went through. Dudley recalled the uncertainty at first, including the pilot’s refusal to explain what was happening until they were on the ground, but emphasized the generosity of Canadians who housed, fed, and clothed the stranded passengers.
