Japan hopes humanitarian situation will improve in Syria The Japanese government said Monday it is closely following developments in Syria and hopes the humanitarian situation there will improve after rebels toppled the Syrian government. Japan July-Sept. GDP growth revised up to 1.2% on private investment Japan's economy grew an annualized real 1.2 percent in the July-September quarter, revised up from an initially reported 0.9 percent, helped by stronger private sector investment and inventories, the Cabinet Office said Monday. The upward revision marked the second consecutive quarter of growth, reinforcing the government's view that Japan remains on a moderate recovery path and leaving financial markets prepared for a near-term interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan.
