North Korea says missile fired Thurs. was new ICBM, Hwasong-19 North Korea on Friday said that a missile it test-fired a day earlier was a new intercontinental ballistic missile called the Hwasong-19, according to its state-run media. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un "expressed great satisfaction" at the successful test-firing of the new missile, calling it the "ultimate version" of an ICBM. He also said his country's "hegemonic position" in the development of means for nuclear delivery is "absolutely irreversible," according to the official Korean Central News Agency. Japan revises foreign trainee rules to allow job transfers over abuse Japan revised its guidelines for the foreign trainee program on Friday, permitting trainees who experience harassment and abuse to change workplaces as it seeks to address the issue of trainees quitting without notice over poor working conditions. Under the program, which prohibits trainees from switching jobs for the first three years in principle, the number of interns fleeing workplaces hit a record high of 9,753 in 2023. Not one government has paid into fund for victims of Uganda warlord, says ICC The international criminal court awarded a record €52.4m to survivors of Dominic Ongwen’s crimes but member states have failed to contributeNot a single country has contributed towards reparations for the victims and survivors of the Ugandan warlord Dominic Ongwen, despite the international criminal court awarding €52.4m (£44m) in February, according to the ICC Trust Fund for Victims (TFV).The ICC reparations order – the largest in the court’s history – was issued after a 2021 ruling in which the court found Ongwen, a former commander of the Lord’s Resistance Army militia group, guilty of various war crimes committed between 2002 and 2005, including murder, torture, sexual enslavement, the conscription of children into hostilities, and brutal attacks on four camps for internally displaced people in northern Uganda. Waves for days fuel surf tourism at Fukushima beach town It's a testament to the enduring appeal of surfing that despite facing the adversity of a tsunami and nuclear disaster a beach community in Fukushima is revitalizing the region through surf tourism.   The beach at Kitaizumi, in the city of Minamisoma, offers some of the most consistent surf to be found anywhere in Japan. World Athletics reveals alarming findings on online abuse of athletes Racism and sexualized abuse continue to be used in online posts to target athletes, World Athletics said Thursday as it published findings from a study conducted during the Paris Olympics. "Racism (18 percent) and sexualized abuse (30 percent) continue to be the biggest issue, making up more than 48 percent of the total detected abuse, while general abuse makes up 32 percent," the world governing body of athletics said in a press release.
