Campaigning kicks off in Japan for Oct. 27 general election Official campaigning began across Japan on Tuesday for the Oct. 27 general election as Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba seeks a fresh mandate and to restore public trust in politics undermined by a slush funds scandal engulfing his ruling party. Ex-Olympian Kotani staying young at heart with new artistic swim goal Former Olympic synchronized swimmer Mikako Kotani has rekindled her love of the pool via the World Aquatics Masters Championships, where she aims to win gold every time she competes in the sport now known as artistic swimming.
