Japan's Ajinomoto and Danone team up to cut dairy cow emissions - Nikkei Asia TOKYO -- Japanese food and biotechnology company Ajinomoto has tied up with France's Danone to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from dairy cattle with its high-performance supplement that also helps farmers save on costs.Under a strategic partnership, an amino acid supplement will be mixed into feed for cows at farms from which that the French company procures raw milk. This is expected to reduce emissions from cows' belching and excreta by about 10%.

Japan braces for Typhoon Jebi in east, Typhoon Krathon in south Typhoon Jebi is expected to affect eastern Japan, where Tokyo is located, in the next couple of days as the 17th one of the year approaches the Ogasawara Islands in the south, the weather agency said Sunday. The country's southern island prefecture of Okinawa, meanwhile, has been warned of strong winds and high waves as Typhoon Krathon, the season's 18th, is forecast to hit between Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. Popular giant panda pair return safely to China from Tokyo A pair of giant pandas who have been in Japan for 13 years on loan returned safely to a giant panda reserve in southwestern China's Sichuan Province on Sunday for treatment, according to the Ueno Zoological Gardens. Ri Ri and his female mate Shin Shin, both aged 19, came to Tokyo's Ueno Zoological Gardens in February 2011.
